TO: SNOW WHITE
FROM: THE SEVEN DWARFS
Important message. Urgent. Read!
Our sage advice you must now heed.
Stay in the cottage. Don’t go out.
Your evil stepmom’s hereabout.
She’s dressed up as an ugly crone.
She knows that you are home alone.
Go lock the windows. Bolt the door.
Hide in the closet. Please ignore
Her coy attempts to sell you things:
Poison apples, combs, or rings.
She’s bent on murder. She won’t rest
Until her mirror says she’s best.
Don’t let her trick you. Use you head!
Or she’ll be fairest. You’ll be dead.

NCTE Annual Convention News

what's funny is that that the dwarfs used old technology - a fax machine. since we know that snowy didn't get the warning, she must have been called away from the home office via IM text messaging on her iphone, a gift from the evil stepmom! (it was an apple, after all!)

I wrote this poem about fifteen years ago.
I've never sent a text message. I do have a cell phone--but only use it for emergencies.
proof that good poems stand the test of time! you didn't know it then, but you were writing for the future generations.
and it's a clever poem no matter when you wrote it.

I love fairy tale poems. Have you ever read "Trail of Stones" by Gwen Srauss. I'd really like to get my hands on a copy of "The Poets' Grimm" some day.
You know I love your fairy tale poems. Interesting comment from David -- fax machines, iPhones -- technology changes, but good poems do stand the test of time, and acquire new contexts and interpretations as it goes along.
