NPM: Two More Poems from GREAT MORNING!: Post #8

I've selected two more poems from GREAT MORNING!: Poems for School Leaders to Read Aloud. They are two of my favorites from the book: Time for Lunch by Caroline Starr Rose and Things Not to Do by Eileen Spinelli. I think they both have lots of "kid appeal." I think the poems will definitely appeal to teachers and lunch ladies, too!
Eileen's poem reminds me of Karla Kuskin's poem RULES--which my elementary students LOVED!!! Here's an excerpt from the poem:

RULES
by Karla Kuskin

Do not jump on ancient uncles.
Do not yell at average mice.
Do not wear a broom to breakfast.
Do not ask a snake's advice.

To be entered into the drawing for the book, all you have to do is to comment on any of my Wild Rose Reader posts that I publish from April 8th through April 13th. I'll announce the winner on Sunday, April 14th.

  4. Oh, I love this book. I used some poems from it for our recent Poetry Pandemonium at my school. Such a great book to widen the scope of poetry readers in a school!
