I've selected two more poems from GREAT MORNING!:
Poems for School Leaders to Read Aloud. They are two of my favorites from the book: Time
for Lunch by Caroline Starr Rose and Things Not to Do by Eileen Spinelli. I
think they both have lots of "kid appeal." I think the poems will
definitely appeal to teachers and lunch ladies, too!
Eileen's poem reminds me of Karla Kuskin's
poem RULES--which my elementary students LOVED!!! Here's an excerpt from the poem:
RULES
by
Karla Kuskin
Do not jump on ancient uncles.
Do not yell at average mice.
Do not wear a broom to breakfast.
Do not ask a snake's advice.
Do not yell at average mice.
Do not wear a broom to breakfast.
Do not ask a snake's advice.

librarian should have.
To be entered into the drawing for the book, all you
have to do is to comment on any of my Wild Rose Reader posts that I publish
from April 8th through April 13th. I'll announce the winner on Sunday, April
14th.

ReplyDeleteOh, I love this book. I used some poems from it for our recent Poetry Pandemonium at my school. Such a great book to widen the scope of poetry readers in a school!
