Eating Poetry
By Mark Strand

The librarian does not believe what she sees.
The poems are gone.

Ubiquitous: Celebrating Nature's Survivors

Houghton Mifflin (April 5, 2010)
From the starred Booklist review by Gillian Engberg: The creators of the Caldecott Honor Book Song of the Waterboatman and Other Pond Poems (2005) offer another winning blend of poetry, science, and art in this picture-book collection that celebrates the earth’s most resilient and long-lived species. Following Waterboatman’s format, each dynamic spread in this remarkable volume features a poem, a prose paragraph, and a captivating illustration that work together perfectly to reinforce both the science concepts and the awe they inspire.

Thanks for the preview. So many good books to look forward to. The Ubiquitous trailer is awesome! Also intrigued by Poetrees, Everybody was a Baby Once, and Sharing the Seasons.
Jama,
I wish all of these poetry books were available now. Joyce Sidman told me that she and her son created the trailer for book.
Oh, my goodness. Between you and Sylvia I've gotten very grabby about the coming books! LOVE the Strand poem, too!
Just got Ocean Soup in the mail today, along with a few other poetry books from Charlesbridge. As you can imagine, I can't wait for Florian's new book. I'm also excited about Sidman's.
Thanks for sharing these titles, as well as those wonderful poems. Eve Merriam's is lovely.
Elaine: UBIQUITOUS trailer is great! And MIRROR MIRROR intrigues me.
Thanks for the sneak peek. There's so much to look forward to this year. I don't know what to read first. Mirror, Mirror is already ordered formy library. Just waiting for it to arrive...
Ooh, danger: Books I May Need.
How is it that everything Lee Bennet Hopkins does looks gorgeous and like something I should buy and pass along??
And I love the poem as well!
YAY!! Thanks to Sylvia for the extensive list, but thanks to YOU for the visuals!!! (I need both, but the visuals are what get me really excited!!) Great poetic year ahead!!!
Thank you for two delicious poems and the peek into spring. I join those who can't wait to get her hands on Ubiquitous in particular. I got a flyer at ALA in Boston and it's on my office wall. Jeannine Atkins
