- Elaine Magliaro
- I worked as an elementary school teacher for more than three decades and as a school librarian for three years. I also taught a children's literature course at Boston University from 2002-2008. I served on the advisory board of the Keene State College Children’s Literature Festival from 2006-2008 and as a member of the NCTE Poetry Committee from 2009-2012. "Things to Do," my first children's book, won the 2018 Margaret Wise Brown Prize in Children's Literature and a 2018 Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Honor Award.

Me too!! I was rooting for this book so hard!

I had brunch with Grace yesterday--and the subject of the ALA Awards never came up. I wasn't paying much attention to all the scuttlebutt about which books would most likely win the 2010 Newbery and Caldecott Awards. It was such a wonderful surprise when I heard Grace's good news.
I love all of the Caldecott picks this year!
That's so exciting! I have to put this book on my reading list.

I hope you like the book. The color plates in it are gorgeous! I was so happy when I heard the good news that I was jumping up and down. My husband wasn't quite sure what had happened.
