For Poetry Friday, I’m giving you a link to the Spring 2008 Catalog of Roaring Brook Press. A poem, Things to Do If You Are a Pencil, appears on page 13 of the catalog. The poem is included in an anthology of list poems written by contemporary poets entitled Falling Down the Page. The book was edited by Georgia Heard and will be released in March.
Happy Cybils! I served on the poetry-nominating panel. We selected seven fine poetry books as our 2007 finalists. Click here if you’d like to see the list of nominated poetry books.
Happy New Year!!!

What a fun little poem!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Elaine! I just printed the page and hung it above my desk. It will serve as my inspiration until a copy of that book comes out.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a nice break, but I missed you and am happy to see you back!
Thanks, Mary Lee--and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteTricia,
I was so surprised when I found my poem printed in the Spring 2008 Roaring Brook catalog. I had no idea "Things to Do If You Are a Pencil" would be highlighted in the catalog.
Congrats not only on being in the book, but being featured in the catalogue like that!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Elaine! And thank you for your work on the poetry panel--I love the final list.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly! Now I need to get to work on sending out some poetry manuscripts. I let 2007 slip away and didn't send out any poems except to Georgia Heard for "Falling Down the Page."
ReplyDeleteAnamaria,
We members of the poetry-nominating panel did our best to select our finalists. I'm glad you like the list!
Elaine, please forgive my faux pas! I didn't roll page 13 all the way down when I first looked at the poem, so I didn't see the byline! Congratulations!!!! Thanks to Tricia for correcting my error -- your PF link is now in the "Originals" section!
ReplyDeleteElaine,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the great poem! I love how the title is made into a pencil!
Be Sharp.
ReplyDeleteI love that, Elaine.
Congratulations!
Mary Lee, Vivian, and Liz--Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMary Lee,
There's no need to apologize. I didn't write that it was an original poem when I left my comment at your blog. I thought it would be a surprise for people--as it had been for me when I saw my poem in the online catalog last week.
Elaine, HOW EXCITING! Congratulations. That is fabulous, and I can't wait to see that anthology. Is it just thrilling to be featured in the catalog like that, too?
ReplyDeleteHappy new year!
Jules, 7-Imp
Elaine--WOOHOO! That is fantastic. Love your poem and your featured position in the catalog. What a great start to '08!
