I wasn't planning on posting today--but I just remembered that I have a poem about
fireworks that I wrote for a collection of acrostic poems entitled
What's in a Word?--a collection that is unlikely to ever be published. Here is the poem:
Fiery flowers bloom
In the night:
Roses, carnations…chrysanthemums, too,
Emerald green, red,
White, and blue. Silvery fountains spill
Out of the sky.
Rockets of gold sizzle and sigh.
Kaleidoscope colors cascading in space,
Showering glitter all over the place.
I love acrostic poetry and really enjoyed your Fireworks. Why isn't your collection of poetry being published? We need all the poetry books we can buy to bring enthusiasm for poetry to children!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Elaine, and such fancy graphics, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary. I guess I should get cracking and just submit the manuscript again. The editor who rejected it said she felt there were many similar books already out in the marketplace. I agree about bringing kids and poetry together!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Susan...and that's about as fancy as I can get with graphics.
I hope you both enjoyed a festive Fourth. The fireworks in Marblehead were postponed until Friday night...so we join our friends on their boat in the harbor for dinner and another celebration! I won't complain.
