Today’s poem is for Susan at Chicken Spaghetti. Susan was the coordinator of the Cybils poetry-nominating panel on which I served. She was also one of the people who encouraged me to start my own blog. Thanks, Susan!
MANELY SPEAKING
by Elaine Magliaro
The lion’s lying in the grass
On the Serengeti Plain
While the patient lioness
Combs stubborn tangles from his mane.
She jerks the comb when it gets stuck.
The lion snarls and takes a fit:
“Don’t be so rough—you’re hurting me!
Why must you tug and pull on it?
Remember…I’m the King of Beasts—
An animal of great renown.
So treat me with respect, my dear.
Be gentle when you comb my crown!”
Elaine! What a Fabulous way to start the day. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSee, see--I KNEW you would have an awesome blog!
Susan,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all your support. Having a solo blog is a lot of work--and fun. I don't know how people who have fulltime jobs do it!
