JAPANESE BEETLE
My love is this beautiful red, red rose.
Of all the blossoms, it’s the one I chose.
It has silky petals, leaves of emerald green.
It’s the yummiest flower that I’ve ever seen.

Love reading your site, love reading your Animal Mask poems. Love you. That is all.
Thanks, Charles! I hope our paths cross again one day. It was a pleasure meeting you in Orlando.
I like the play on Burns, Elaine. And, like Charles, I love all your mask poems. They're always so clever in the wording.
So, I wrote a poem for you, Elaine. Thanks for having so many 'mentor' poems to learn from!
I was kept warm, quite safe and fed
and then surprised to hear the call
to leave home because I wasn’t meant
to stay there very long at all.
I began to push, to dry and move
the side door open, then it gave a sigh
I wiggled and jiggled till I was out
And I became a butterfly.

Hmm...growing up we never had a problem with Japanese Beetles on roses. They always got on our grape vines.
Elaine and Linda - fabulous poems :)
