Nearly twenty years ago, I began work on a collection of fairy tale poems. I have posted a number of the poems previously at Wild Rose Reader. Today, I have a poem written in the form of a FAX from Cinderella to Prince Charming.
FROM: CINDERELLA
I didn’t want to leave the ball,
But I received an urgent call
From Rent-A-Coach demanding I
Return their carriage pronto. Why?
I guess some wealthy magistrate
Reserved it for a midnight date.
I’ve heard you’re searching everywhere
To find the maid who fit the pair
Of teeny tiny crystal shoes.
My darling prince, I have good news:
I’ve got the left. You’ve got the right.
Come try it on MY foot tonight!
You’ll find my address up above.
Can’t wait to see you. All my love.

FAX
TO: PRINCE CHARMINGFROM: CINDERELLA
10 TINY TOES LANE
FAIRYTOWN, FRANCE
Remember me…the lovely lass
Who lost her slipper made of glass?I didn’t want to leave the ball,
But I received an urgent call
From Rent-A-Coach demanding I
Return their carriage pronto. Why?
I guess some wealthy magistrate
Reserved it for a midnight date.
I’ve heard you’re searching everywhere
To find the maid who fit the pair
Of teeny tiny crystal shoes.
My darling prince, I have good news:
I’ve got the left. You’ve got the right.
Come try it on MY foot tonight!

Can’t wait to see you. All my love.
The Poetry Friday Roundup is at A Teaching Life.

Ah-so very tongue in cheek, with Cinderella having the upper hand, or should I say upper foot! I love the fast rhythm in her talking, Elaine. It gave me a good chuckle.
Clever and convincing. Thanks for making me smile today, Elaine! Have a great weekend :).
That's very clever and funny!
This is great! I love this "take charge" Cinderella....;0)
A FAX poem--WOW! I'd like to get inside some of our amazing poetic brains. Oh, what a wild and crazy ride that would be...

How fun!
Your fairy tale poems always make me laugh!
I think you should talk to Sylvia and Janet about publishing them as an e-book. I'd love to have these poems in my students' hands on the Kindle/Kindle app!!!
Love it!

What fun! I can't wait to share this with my own children tonight. You're such a blast, and whenever I read your poems, Elaine, I hear you reading them out loud. a.
