I’ve been a bit “under the weather” for about a month—and therefore not posting as often here of late or at Political Verses. I just started having acupuncture treatments this week—and they seem to be helping with my problem.
Here’s one of my acrostics for Poetry Friday. Unfortunately, dawn arrived without a bright sunshiny face where I live this morning.
Here’s one of my acrostics for Poetry Friday. Unfortunately, dawn arrived without a bright sunshiny face where I live this morning.
Dawn, dressed in a bright blue robe
And golden slippers,
Yawns awake. Stars scurry away.
Breaking into song, birds
Rouse the sun,
Eager to start
A new day. Morning bounds out of bed with delight,
Kicking off the dark cover of night.
And golden slippers,
Yawns awake. Stars scurry away.
Breaking into song, birds
Rouse the sun,
Eager to start
A new day. Morning bounds out of bed with delight,
Kicking off the dark cover of night.

Love your poem! "Stars scurry away . . ."
Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Glad the acupuncture treatments are helping. Feel better soon!
Thanks, Jama. I'm feeling better after two treatments. I just hope acupuncture will be the answer to treating a problem I've had that has gotten worse over the years. Western medicine hasn't helped much--so I thought I'd try something else.
"stars scurry away" stands out to me as well. Nice!
What a perfect acrostic!
I love dawn waking up in a blue robe!
Hope you feel better soon!
So flowing - not at all first-letter conscious like acrostics can be. This poem has a lighthearted, happy feel.
Take care...

This is such a cheerful, lovely poem to read in the early morning, while the birds start their chorus. Hope you are feeling well today and on the mend!
After a weekend of dog sitting, I'm looking forward to a dawn that breaks without the need to get right up and go for a walk in it!
Hi Elaine, I'm glad to hear you're feeling a little better. I haven't been posting as much either, but due to chronic migraines. I've been seeing neurologists for years, but they don't seem to get any better. I'd love to try acupunture, but it's not covered by my insurance.
Your acrostic is lovely!
Irene, Kelly, Mary Lee, Violet, Andi, Linda--
Thanks for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment.
I do wish that I had tried acupuncture sooner. I feel so much better.
Linda, I used to have terrible migraines. Red wine and chocolate were two things that I tried to avoid.
What a lovely acrostic!
Thanks for sharing :)
Elaine, this is fantastic! I especially love:
Stars scurry away.
Breaking into song, birds
Rouse the sun,
Every noun in this poem is SO accessible to young kids, but so interesting. Paints a wonderful picture in my head. Thank you for sharing!
And I hope you're feeling even better soon. Chronic conditions or even temporary but longlasting ones get so wearying!
