GIRAFFE
by Elaine Magliaro
Giraffe is very tall—
but has a voice so small
you never hear him
bark or roar,
sneeze or snore,
screech or howl,
grunt or growl,
caterwaul…
or ever say a word at all.
Perhaps because his head’s so high,
his sounds get lost up in the sky.

Thank you so much! I've been hoping I'd get a poem.
I love this poem! Of course, I do have a soft place in my heart for giraffes, too.
Lovely!
When I was in 3rd grade, the teachers would try to herd us into silence by telling us to "be like giraffes."
